New Hoarde member BRAVE FINE ART who sell vintage and contemporary art works, have just updated their website and we love it.  It's clean, fresh, colourful, they have great photos of their stock, good descriptions and are, most importantly, showing all the information a client needs in order to make a purchase there and then.  They have a simple shopping cart, so clients can pay for their item immediately and secure the piece they want without worrying if they might lose out before the dealer can get back to them.

It's powered by Shopify so won't cost the earth and it's in your control.  The days of having to spend a fortune on a small business website are gone and there is a plethora of companies out there providing such options.  Your website is your shop front, it's important to get it right because it's all clients have to go on if your selling online or directing them to it via other means.

Some other things to consider with your site.  Don't make them have to keep contacting you to find out the things they should be able to see already, like dimensions, prices, a good decent description, not just a few words.  All these things take little time to add and speak volumes about how much care you take in presenting your items and it means there's more chance of you making a sale.  Put yourselves in your clients shoes, and look at your site and its content objectively, and ask yourself, does it appeal, would it make you buy from it? Ask someone else to look at it for you and give their honest opinion. No and again, this is a good thing to do in any event as it's easy to become complacent about your own site.

Make it easy for them to contact you and pay you or at the very least, tell them how they can pay for a piece.  There are other ways apart from Paypal to accept credit and debit card, World Pay Zinc for instance charge only 1.9% (at time of writing) if you pay £5.99 a month and you can send a client a money request so they can fill in their own card details.  It's all about making clients feel secure about buying from you.

Make sure you reply in good time and most importantly, take time and care over your pictures because again, it's all clients have to go by, and they will move on very quickly if you don't capture their imagination and attention in the way Brave Fine Art have done with their new site. 

And remember, you don't have to spend a fortune to get a great site.
