An unusual carved study of a Tympanium. A three part bell tower, possibly Italian. It has a date carved above the door of 1740. It is both naive and somewhat primitive and yet a detailed depiction of the bell towers and confessionals of Venice, Naples and Southern France. It has a presence and charm with many carved brick and two wooden bells and half a cross. The pair of wooden door with small turned metal handles open to an empty chamber, Would it have contained a relic, effigy or cross?

I am an artist, sculptor, collector and restorer.  I have always been inspired and influenced by my love of the old. Since collecting tins, postcards, early textiles and gadgets as a teenager I have surrounded myself with “stuff”. I started trading in the 1970s from my architectural effects shop Leaded Lights and design shop Gothic in Greenwich. My stock reflects my enjoyment of the antique and the peculiar, from early Medieval to Victorian to Art Deco and industrial design.

I endeavour to hunt out the unusual - richly patinated wood, faded sun-drenched   paintwork and gently burnished ironwork.

We are based in a Victorian Gothic building in Somerset, only 15 minutes from the M5.
