A large pair of early candlesticks in a worn silver gilt finish, worn in parts with signs of burnt umber undercoat. On a trefoil base, there are swags and carved droplets to another tier of simple carved leaves and flowers. Other areas are carved cross hatching and crudely carved swags and droplets evocative of the Baroque style.. there is evidence of very old worm ( very little), missing silver gilt and signs of gesso. They are similar but not exact but not matched showing differences of feet, size and carving techniques. They have been electrified (now redundant) probably in the middle of the last century. Readily adaptable for electrifying or candleising.

I am an artist, sculptor, collector and restorer.  I have always been inspired and influenced by my love of the old. Since collecting tins, postcards, early textiles and gadgets as a teenager I have surrounded myself with “stuff”. I started trading in the 1970s from my architectural effects shop Leaded Lights and design shop Gothic in Greenwich. My stock reflects my enjoyment of the antique and the peculiar, from early Medieval to Victorian to Art Deco and industrial design.

I endeavour to hunt out the unusual - richly patinated wood, faded sun-drenched   paintwork and gently burnished ironwork.

We are based in a Victorian Gothic building in Somerset, only 15 minutes from the M5.
