A beautiful and rarely see original 19th Century Portrait Oil Painting on canvas depicting a handsome Arabian Gentleman who is smoking a large pipe beneath a small native hut whilst taking shade from the expansive hot desert landscape around him. The attention to detail throughout the work is truly marvellous. It appears to be unsigned, but, judging from the quality of the piece, it is clear for all to see that the artist was a very talented and highly skilled hand. The reverse of the canvas is stamped: 'Geo Rowney & Co, 52, Rathbone Place & 29, Oxford Street, London. Circa: 1880-1890. Free UK delivery.
Condition: Mounted within a lovely (later) gilt pierced frame, and offered in an overall good condition commensurate with age.
