1950's Oil Painting, 'Ploughman's with Radishes,'

Smashing, mid century, oil on canvas by British artist, Hazel Bruce Dunlop (1911–2005) depicting a bottle of beer, blue marbled stilton, crusty bread and a crunch of radishes on a blue checked table cloth.

About the Artist

Hazel Bruce Dunlop (1911–2005) mainly painted portraits. She was born in Borneo and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art with Henry Tonks, Philip Wilson Steer and Randolph Schwab. She was married to the artist Francis Edwin Hodge, member of the United Society of Artists, with which she showed, also with Society of Women Artists, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Academy of Arts and Paris Salon. She lived in London.

Trained in graphic design and illustration, Kitty worked for publisher Macmillan, as a senior designer and is responsible for the design of the classic children's book 'The Gruffalo'.  Kitty has worked for many years as a vintage and food stylist, she has a keen eye for stylish mid-century decorative pieces.  She has written and styled 5 books including the best selling Sweets Made Simple, the companion book to the couple's BBC TV show of the same name.

The couple argue incessantly through Kitty is wise enough to know that one should let your man think he wears the trousers.
