1970, Russian Portrait,'Girl in a Checked Dress'

A fabulous, 1970's portrait of a girl with long bunches and a monochrome blouse with a Peter Pan collar by Russian artist A.P. Solodovnikov (1928 - 2017). The soft light is such a joy as it falls across her face and coral lips. The thick, blocked brush strokes of her blouse are cubist in form. Sigh.

His brief biography you can read below.
Acquired from the personal collection of the artist.

Aleksey Pavlovich Solodovnikov was born on September 24, 1928 in the village of Tokarevo of the Yaroslavl region in Russia.
From 1943 to 1948 he studied in the Yaroslavl Art School.
In 1955 he graduated from the Kiev State Institute of Art, where his teacher was S.A Grigoriev
Since 1951 Solodovnikov was a participant in local, national and international art exhibitions.
He was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR from1961, later he became a member of the Union of the Artists of Ukraine.
