Contemporary Oil, 'West St Leonards,' Ben Fenton

Glorious seascape by British artist, Ben Fenton.

An expanse of slate sea and a steely blue sky. A spaghetti junction of powder blue fields and pathways undulating across the foreshore, broken by a pebble brown groyne. A flat of sea glass hued sand. Painted with calm and restraint this piece oozes serenity.

Full title, 'Structured Melancholy (West St Leonards)'

About the Artist

Fenton grew up listening to the sound of shingle dragged by the tide and the intermittent sweep of the Dungeness lighthouse beaming through the pink curtains of his grandmother's beach shack, Prospect Cottage. Having been put to sea at the age of four by his fisherman father he is well equipped to paint the weight of uninterrupted skies, beach structures and architecture.
