Apart from being rather gorgeous, these two weigh a tonne!
Although they’re a marriage of two graduated sizes, they’re of similar age and would have both been used by a pharmacist/apothecary to grind ingredients in the C19th. One has the makers stamp ‘CANNON’ and ‘No. 2’ which is probably the size. Beautifully patinated black cast iron, these are both usable and industrially decorative.
