Cool Vintage 1950s Walnut Cabinet with Lamp by Barget of London

A little piece of 1950s eccentricity – this super little 1950s Walnut veneer cabinet with curvy standard lamp was produced by W K Barget of London. These chaps were in the habit of designing the era’s more unusual pieces, usually with a leaning towards Italy for inspiration. Okay, it’s not going to sit quietly in the corner of a room - it’s a little striking for that! It’s a well-made piece that could incorporate drinks and glass storage, a glass shelf behind little glass sliding doors and a curvy lamp above.
It’s in good vintage original order which is pleasing. The lamp stem is all in situ lightly aged with aging and wear to the gold coloured trim. Importantly the decorative inspired sliding doors are in fine order with no chips or breaks. It still possesses its inner glass self and the quilted off white interior lining is fine. There is light foxing to the mirrored glass on the base inside. The veneer does possess day to day marks and blemishes from wear. Overall it’s very presentable and it’s still looking sharp with little or no fading to the finish. The piece has been professionally rewired, replugged and PAT tested.

Please note lampshade not included.

A real piece of 50s style.

The perfect size to place next to your favourite drinking chair, possessing the advantage of being of smaller proportions.

Dimensions - Overall: Height 174cm with Top Surface 61cm x Width 80cm x Depth 39cm

Billy Hunt is an independent partnership based in a wonderful Victorian Farming Buiding once used to stable Dray Horses for Bass Brewery and with the assistance of technology, enjoys serving customers nationally and internationally. The collaboration of successful Interior Designer Martina Reitbauer and Ardent Gatherer Wayne Lawless brings to you an exciting and ever evolving selection of items for your home which do not have the constraints of a particular era, no onus on any particular style or a brand agenda to respect.

We choose to source across the UK believing that the British Isles offers a splendid mix of fine quality, true eccentricity, creative design and exceptional craftsmanship which very few can equal.

We take pleasure in gathering pieces from country houses, time-worn factories and auctions travelling extensively to seek out the appealing. You will notice when viewing our collection, we are not afraid to evolve furniture, recognise the need to modernise but are also content to leave “as found” aiming to create a piece or pieces that are beautiful, distinctive and a delight to live with.

Our wish is to show you some wonderful items that you would love to own and offer a service which is personal, professional, considerate and a pleasurable experience. You are able to view our stock in person by appointment, just contact us to arrange a convenient time here.
