Oak Desk by Simpoles of Manchester for Ferodo

BILLY HUNT
Twin Pedestal Vintage Oak Desk by Simpoles of Manchester for Ferodo

A very smart looking Vintage oak twin pedestal desk with the oval Ferodo Limited badge displayed proudly at the top of the front. Ferodo are synonymous with automobile braking technology having been established in 1897 and assisted Donald Campbell to halt when setting the land speed record in 1963 amongst its achievements. The desk by Simpoles of Manchester would have probably sat in the Wales factory and offices of Ferodo and dates to around 1940.

It’s a good looking beast with the usual lay out of a long top middle drawer flanked to the left with three drawers and to the right with a top drawer and a deep filing drawer. The two oak slides are also present. The desk is very much of the era with the curved original ribbed handles rather nice and the brass ends to the legs another decent feature.

Condition wise its good - the top has day to day marks but no deep scars, the drawer interiors are a little ink stained with the legs a little scuffed in places. All the drawers are working fine and the frame is firm with no wobbles. The desk also smells fine and looks pretty fresh for an old un!

Without doubt a great looking vintage desk.

Billy Hunt is an independent partnership based in a wonderful Victorian Farming Buiding once used to stable Dray Horses for Bass Brewery and with the assistance of technology, enjoys serving customers nationally and internationally. The collaboration of successful Interior Designer Martina Reitbauer and Ardent Gatherer Wayne Lawless brings to you an exciting and ever evolving selection of items for your home which do not have the constraints of a particular era, no onus on any particular style or a brand agenda to respect.

We choose to source across the UK believing that the British Isles offers a splendid mix of fine quality, true eccentricity, creative design and exceptional craftsmanship which very few can equal.

We take pleasure in gathering pieces from country houses, time-worn factories and auctions travelling extensively to seek out the appealing. You will notice when viewing our collection, we are not afraid to evolve furniture, recognise the need to modernise but are also content to leave “as found” aiming to create a piece or pieces that are beautiful, distinctive and a delight to live with.

Our wish is to show you some wonderful items that you would love to own and offer a service which is personal, professional, considerate and a pleasurable experience. You are able to view our stock in person by appointment, just contact us to arrange a convenient time here.
