Good Vintage 1920s Oak Two Drawer Desk By Simpoles of Manchester. A great looking 1920s oak desk by Simpoles of Manchester – marked on the locks. Simpoles produced some good looking desks and were the quality end of the market... and this beauty survives in great condition with no alterations. It’s of sensible proportions compared to some and we rather like the original long brass handles and those shaped oak legs. The top is original grained Rexin and is historically worn.

Workshop report – This one is in great order. We have vacuumed the drawers which are running fine, waxed the runners and lightly waxed the frame. The locks are in situ with the makers stamp but no key. As mentioned the top is original showing sensible wear but no holes or real damage. The desk is firm with no wobbles and smells fine.

A great British desk from a good maker.

Billy Hunt is an independent partnership based in a wonderful Victorian Farming Buiding once used to stable Dray Horses for Bass Brewery and with the assistance of technology, enjoys serving customers nationally and internationally. The collaboration of successful Interior Designer Martina Reitbauer and Ardent Gatherer Wayne Lawless brings to you an exciting and ever evolving selection of items for your home which do not have the constraints of a particular era, no onus on any particular style or a brand agenda to respect.

We choose to source across the UK believing that the British Isles offers a splendid mix of fine quality, true eccentricity, creative design and exceptional craftsmanship which very few can equal.

We take pleasure in gathering pieces from country houses, time-worn factories and auctions travelling extensively to seek out the appealing. You will notice when viewing our collection, we are not afraid to evolve furniture, recognise the need to modernise but are also content to leave “as found” aiming to create a piece or pieces that are beautiful, distinctive and a delight to live with.

Our wish is to show you some wonderful items that you would love to own and offer a service which is personal, professional, considerate and a pleasurable experience. You are able to view our stock in person by appointment, just contact us to arrange a convenient time here.
