Matching Set of 10 Oak Dining Chairs C1915
These are a very handsome matching set of 10 dining chairs surviving from around 1915 with a gentle hint of Art and Crafts to the frames. Never easy to find a matching set of 10 – 8 plus 2 carvers these would be perfect for a larger home or maybe commercial use.

The set is of a pleasing tone of oak and are well crafted with beautiful shaped high backs, an exquisite little diamond chequered inlay to the gently shaped slat back, the legs are pleasingly turned with the arched stretchers adding the finishing touch. We’d say they possibly had a previous commercial life or were from a large Edwardian house. This set would have been an expensive acquisition when purchased new.

Workshop report – The chairs are all firm and ready for use. The padded seats are of an aged leather hide and are all hole and rip free but with day to day wear. Both of the carvers have historic repairs but well accomplished and nothing to worry about – not ugly or new. A couple of the chairs have light repairs but again nothing nasty, not particularly noticeable or off putting. Expect a fine set with sensible day to day wear. These have been cared for rather than left to go old and damp in a barn. We have lightly waxed the frames and conditioned the leather without killing their history off...

A wonderful set of aged English dining chairs from the early 20th Century

Billy Hunt is an independent partnership based in a wonderful Victorian Farming Buiding once used to stable Dray Horses for Bass Brewery and with the assistance of technology, enjoys serving customers nationally and internationally. The collaboration of successful Interior Designer Martina Reitbauer and Ardent Gatherer Wayne Lawless brings to you an exciting and ever evolving selection of items for your home which do not have the constraints of a particular era, no onus on any particular style or a brand agenda to respect.

We choose to source across the UK believing that the British Isles offers a splendid mix of fine quality, true eccentricity, creative design and exceptional craftsmanship which very few can equal.

We take pleasure in gathering pieces from country houses, time-worn factories and auctions travelling extensively to seek out the appealing. You will notice when viewing our collection, we are not afraid to evolve furniture, recognise the need to modernise but are also content to leave “as found” aiming to create a piece or pieces that are beautiful, distinctive and a delight to live with.

Our wish is to show you some wonderful items that you would love to own and offer a service which is personal, professional, considerate and a pleasurable experience. You are able to view our stock in person by appointment, just contact us to arrange a convenient time here.
