Clocks made of Tole (Metal) that were painted either in plain colours or in various floral designs were only to be found in elegant residences in France in the 19th century. They were often hung with a ribbon through the brass ring at the top of the clock in between tall French windows. The 8 day mechanical movement is original to the clock and strikes hourly and half hourly on a spiral gong. The movement works but has not been fully restored, so cannot be guaranteed to be a perfect time keeper.

Roger Lascelles has spent the past 35 years building a collection of vintage and antique clocks that is second to none.

He maintains a collection of over 500 clocks, ranging from antique longcase clocks to large external turret clock dials, from Bakelite mantel clocks to charming old French Bistro clocks.

Roger frequents antique markets and auction houses at home and abroad. With the help of a small team of skilled craftsmen, he enjoys restoring and reviving clocks that have seen better days to give them back their original charm and character.

He welcomes visitors by appointment to his 4,500 sq ft showroom and workshop in Wandsworth, South West London.
