A vast 19th century glass lens by French company Sautter Lemonnier and Co. With maker’s label etched around the outer rim. Very thick glass which is also very heavy. Likely from a large military searchlight, SL&Co also made Fresnel lenses for lighthouses. With age-related wear, including chips, scratches and dings (concentrated around the rim) so sold as found. These can all likely be polished out without too much trouble. Not our normal sort of thing but I just really liked its scale. Pictured next to a standard adult size chair. c.1890

At Cunningham White's we source decorative antiques and furniture. We are guided by great decorative value, recognising the emotion that can be gained from owning something that just looks and feels so good. We don't pin ourselves down to one particular style or period. We simply love good looking things.

Sam finds and Naomi fixes (although sometimes it's the other way round) and as a team we manage to always have a quality selection of stock in our collection.

We believe that antiques are the future. Timeless, quality pieces add so much character to any scheme and can make a house into a home. They are sustainable. They haven't been thrown away because they are made to last and they can be fixed. We do that bit for you (if it's needed). Antiques reflect our individuality and connect us to past generations. We will always try and find out the provenance of a piece and share that with our customers.

We gladly welcome visitors but please let us know when you plan to visit as we're often out. Our workshop is based in the grounds of a working rescue farm in the characterful, vibrant and independently minded community of Totnes in beautiful South Devon.
