An unusual 1960s novelty transistor radio in the form of a rather handsome plush bulldog, with glass eyes and plastic nose. He is stuffed with straw and has been well loved. He is a little bald in places and his stuffing shows through on his toes and in a couple of other patches.
There is a zip in his belly which, when opened reveals the radio. It was made by Tokiwa Electrical Industries in Japan, and is model number 725. The attachment for the battery is on a wire behind this, and the dials to tune the radio and adjust the volume protrude on either side of the zip. The radio takes a 9V battery. There is no on/off switch, so the battery needs to be removed when you want to turn the radio off. The radio is in working order.

This is a most appealing and very unusual radio, more so because it still works.

Welcome to Ginger Tom's Curious Eclectic.  We are a husband and wife team, both with a lifelong interest in antiques. Our business stems from the usual collector turned dealer scenario.  As our own collections grew, it became obvious we needed to redistribute some items in order to make space to buy new treasures to feed our own habit.

Buying to sell seemed the natural progression from this. We have been involved in buying and selling since 2004, but have only recently taken the decision to establish an online presence. We don't specialise in any particular area, but our interests do influence our stock purchases to a degree.

Our stock includes a varied mix of unusual antique, interesting vintage and stylish contemporary objects that would suit many different settings. Our key criteria is that we only buy, and therefore only sell, items that we would have in our own home and believe that if we like something, others will too.

Our opening hours are 9.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.
