Georgia and Laura are co-founders of House of Hummingbird Interiors, with a shared passion for unearthing vintage pieces and helping them to breathe new life into contemporary interiors.
Their journey into interiors is perhaps a little unusual, Georgia as a photographer and tv advertising producer, and Laura with a successful career in psychology - yet they both have a keen eye for the exquisite and an instinct for objects with history and often a fascinating story to tell.
With a commitment to high quality beautifully made pieces, and conscious of the importance of sustainability, the appeal of vintage was obvious.
"There's a real value in using and enjoying what already exists." says Georgia. 'Many of our finds have lasted for decades or more so there's no reason to believe they won't endure for another century. These are investment pieces, created by skilled craftsmen, and with a rich history that adds depth to their beauty."
House of Hummingbird was founded on these principles, and a belief that objects that have stood the test of time have a special character, a point of difference and something that makes each piece unique.
"These pieces become like friends," agrees Laura, "The sheer excitement that we feel when we find a real vintage treasure is incredible! Much of our collection is turn of the century European, though we have unearthed the occasional piece from as far away as Russia." It really is more emotional than rational - and we only buy pieces we love, which can sometimes make parting with them quite hard."

It is the individual Dealers responsibility to make themselves aware of what the Distance Selling Regulation rules contain; these regulations are open to change, may vary and are detailed, so you may wish to familiarise yourself with such via the many websites available to you on this subject.
Contract of purchase is between the Client and the Seller, not the The Hoarde, we are just the introductory agent. Your rights include, but are not limited to the below. You must check with each individual Seller what their own terms and conditions are and what their own purchase and returns policy include. The Hoarde is not responsible for the description, condition or attribution of an item as we do not have sight of any item and do not have physical ownership of any item, but we do endeavour to only allow professional and experienced dealers onto our website. We do not collect payment or hold such unless specifically agreed prior to purchase and then only as Agent do we hold funds, which are held by the The Hoarde until both parties have confirmed such can be released. If such funds are held and an item is returned, release back to the client of such funds, will be subject to the Seller confirming the item has been returned according to their returns policy. Items are not released to the Buyer until the agreed payment is received by The Hoarde. The Hoarde is not responsible for any related bank charges, transfer fees, currency fluctuations or otherwise. You have the right to return items purchased via the internet up to 14 days following receipt of the item to the specified delivery address. If you collect an item in person or arrange your own delivery, then this term starts immediataely you or your carrier collects the item (this is to avoid your own carrier sitting on the item for a long time before delivering it).
WHAT WE RECOMMEND:
Always ask for an invoice from the Seller. On the invoice you should have the date of the item, any provence, full description, including any restoration or damage. It should state terms of payment and delivery and returns. It should also show the business name, business address, contact numbers, email address and VAT number if applicable.
You should ask for confirmation of your purchase by email so that you have written proof of the agreed price, any additional charges, eg delivery and if you are having the item delivered, ask how and who will be undertaking it and what the Sellers return policy is.
Ask for email confirmation of what your responsibilities are should you wish to return an item, including re-packing, how you must confirm your desire to return the item, eg email or by telephone and be clear on the Seller's return policy.
The prices indicated for items on this site are correct at the time the item is listed, barring any error by the Seller. However, the Euro and Dollar prices shown are for indication only and may vary as rates fluctuate and you may incur your own bank charges when making payment from abroad.
If a Member is based in Europe, you may need to confirm with them their specific purchase and returns policies. However Distance Selling Regulations apply througout Europe as far as The Hoarde is aware.
Please do not be concerned about the above statements. They are there to help and protect both parties and should help to avoid any disputes by making things clear. The owner of this site, Jane Walton, is always happy to help and assist where possible and clients are very welcome to contact Jane should they need advice or assistance. Being a dealer herself for 16 years, she knows that most dealers are good, hardworking and professional people who understand the rules and how to be polite and helpful to clients at all times. They can help you obtain shipping or transport quotes for example. Never be worried about speaking to a Dealer and asking as many questions as you need to about an item, they will be happy to help you. Please do remember though, that they will always be more receptive to clients who show them the same respect.
