Item Details

A well turned 18th century sycamore bowl, having an angled lip and incised lines. It is considered that items that have been repaired had great sentimental value, and occasionally one finds that an iron staple has been inserted across the split or shrinkage crack, as in this instance, presumably done by a village blacksmith.

To the underneath the bowl celebrates some further fine pole lathe turned incised lines in a design sometimes described as 'beehive'
