Late 18th Century Hand Carved Oak Library/Hall Bench. Recently re-upholstered in natural linen
The bench was originally bespoke crafted for a country Chateau in Belgium in the late 1700’s the detailing on the bench would have mirrored the detailing carved into the wall panels in the room it sat within. The back of the seat is highly detailed, depicting 3 jesters in the crest of each seat, superb hand carved decoration throughout. Scroll shaped arms with small upholstered rests. Carved scroll carving to the rear. A truly unique item of impeccable quality and provenance. The bench has been historically over painted at some point during it's lifetime
signs of wear and age consistent with a piece of such age and history. Some small losses to one of the back feet and the jester head/ some losses to part of one small flower finial at the top of the bench, more photographs on request
