Back to the Future is an unquestionably classic American science fiction film. Released in 1985 and starring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as 'Doc' Brown, the film went on to become the highest-grossing film of '85 and in 2007 it was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. This film began a franchise that included two sequels, an animated series and a theme park ride, it secured the DeLorean's place as a desirable, classic car and even lead to Nike releasing a limited edition pair of self-lacing trainers.

He we see an original film poster, in the US one-sheet format. This particular poster was distributed by the Consolidated Theatre Services - the Calgary branch of the Canadian Poster Distribution network. The Calgary branch was essentially an independent distributor who would receive their material from the National Screen Service in the US and make slight modifications to the ratings etc to fit the Canadian sensor board's requirements before redistributing. We see their rubber stamp on the back of the poster along with a projectionists hand written title (very common with original posters from the period). The poster has the typical NSS number printed to the front, lower right and the signature of Drew Struzan - the poster's artist is incorporated into the design near McFly's foot.

This poster was originally tri-folded (as original posters from this period should be) it's been professionally framed using conservation grade backing paper and is ready to hang.

Including the frame the poster measures 107cm high x 71.5cm wide x 2.5cm deep.

  • H: 107cm (42.13in)
  • W: 71.5cm (28.15in)
  • D: 2.5cm (0.98in)

I’m Louis Walpole. Over a decade of working for and alongside some of the best antique dealers in the country at London’s renowned Portobello Road have helped me to form a detailed understanding of, and appreciation for, a diverse array of antiques. In 2016, after ‘dabbling’ in the trade since childhood I decided to follow my heart and (ignoring a myriad of people advising against it) leave my salaried job to trade full time. Since then I have travelled around England and Western Europe collecting the pieces that particularly interest me. These pieces loosely follow the themes of; automotive, advertising, scientific and industrial. I have a select number of items on display in Atlam on Portobello Road. The shop is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and on Saturdays from 8am to 5pm.

If you would like to view any of my pieces in London, please get in touch to confirm that they’re at the shop or to arrange for me to take them there for you. It may also be possible for me to bring items to your home/bar/garage/pub etc so that they can be fully appreciated in-situ, again please just get in touch and we’ll see what can be organised."
