Item Description

These late Victorian (c.1890s) stoneware beer / ginger beer bottles are wonderfully decorative pieces with a thick glaze and bold lettering. This unusually shaped example with it's rounded shoulders and horiztonal banding would have contained ginger beer produced by Bentley & Shaw Ltd, Lockwood Brewery, Bridge Street, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire (Founded by Timothy Bentley 1795). Ginger beer was originally an alcoholic brew made from fermenting ginger, sugar, and water. The bottle has survived it's years in good order with some small markings / areas of discolouation and some chipping / nibbles out of the base (see photos). The bottle measures 17.4cm high and is 6.7cm in diameter. The price includes UK Mainland delivery.
