One of a kind handmade placard in support of the French Socialist Movement and its longstanding leader Aristide Briand who died in the same year (1932). This has been skilfully and artistically constructed using sheets of overlapping alloy, cut in relief and riveted together. There is some evidence of a painted surface although this has long since disappeared. The condition otherwise is generally very good. This is a vital piece of folk art allied as it is to the Socialist cause, the skill, time and passion involved in its creation and the place in history it represents.

Lost Property represents the fine city of Norwich in the heart of East Anglia and has been trading there since 2010. For Lost Property, trading antiques and vintage is the fine line walked between artistry and commerce, feast or famine. It’s the bittersweet tug of wanting to hold onto something forever, but knowing you have to let it go. The Lost Property ‘eye’ focuses on the functional and the decorative with a rebellious slant towards the crude and imperfect.
