An original photographic portrait by the renowned Yorkshire artist Sam Chadwick (1902-1992). Sam Chadwick was talented in many artistic disciplines including painting (known for his `wet brush` watercolor technique) and model making (model airplanes and yachts). He was a member of the Leeds Camera Club for many years, also lecturing on the subject, and had been exhibiting his photographs since the 1940`s. This portrait is of a gentleman called George Coxon Esq. It was entered into a competition in 1963 and exhibited again several times in the 1960`s. The sitter appears austere although there is a kindness and humanity buried deep in the eyes. The lighting is quite beautiful, you can see the furrow of every wrinkle. This original work measures 38.5 cm x 48.5 cm and is mounted on a board measuring 39.5 x 50.5.

Lost Property represents the fine city of Norwich in the heart of East Anglia and has been trading there since 2010. For Lost Property, trading antiques and vintage is the fine line walked between artistry and commerce, feast or famine. It’s the bittersweet tug of wanting to hold onto something forever, but knowing you have to let it go. The Lost Property ‘eye’ focuses on the functional and the decorative with a rebellious slant towards the crude and imperfect.
