Heavy timber fishmonger standee originating, we believe, from Deal in Kent. The paint you see is not original but a later facelift, at least 40 years old. The fishmonger himself is a lot older, we think late Victorian, with echoes and shades of a marine figurehead in its construction. Apart from the obvious age and weather related fissure on his face he is in very good condition; very solid, very heavy.

Lost Property represents the fine city of Norwich in the heart of East Anglia and has been trading there since 2010. For Lost Property, trading antiques and vintage is the fine line walked between artistry and commerce, feast or famine. It’s the bittersweet tug of wanting to hold onto something forever, but knowing you have to let it go. The Lost Property ‘eye’ focuses on the functional and the decorative with a rebellious slant towards the crude and imperfect.
