Possibly one of the finest Desks made by the the Company Edwards & Roberts. Founded in 1845, they went onto became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers. They only used the very best timber, fine walnuts, mahogany and lighter satinwood.
This Antique Pedestal Desk is no exception to this quality. It has magnificent carving on each drawer front, which is exceptional; bearing fruit and flowers. The golden leather writing insert is in absolutely superb condition. The letter writing top opens to reveal a whole section of beautiful places to put papers and envelopes. The desk also has a key for the workable drawer lock.
The desk is made effortlessly with such skill, with pegs and dowels to allow the whole desk to come apart into four sections; allowing this superb Antique Pedestal Desk to be transported easily into place. Four Sections being, 1 x Top with writing area, 1 x Middle section of drawers, 2 x Pedestals.
A really unique and impressive find and this stunning Antique Pedestal Desk has the best proportions. It is an exceptional piece of investment furniture, especially with the mark of Edwards & Roberts shown on the last photograph.

Once fitted together, this piece of furniture is a substantial weight. We can advise/help on fitting.

The items we sell are antique and vintage condition, with signs of commensurate ‘wear‘ with age and use as to be expected for its age.
You will find scuffs, light scratches and light stains, all normal wear you would expect from antique and vintage furniture.
All our pieces of furniture are treated for woodworm if appropriate for your peace of mind as much as for ours.
