Antique French Glass Cloche
A beautiful elegant 19th century French hand blown pale green glass garden cloche. It is amazingly well preserved.
The word cloche means bell in French. A cloche or bell jar is a bell shaped glass cover, usually with a knob on top, used by gardeners to protect plants early and late in the growing season. A cloche can be used outside in the garden or inside to create a warm moist container or terrarium cover.
Cloche were first used in France around 1600 and then in England about 1629.

Workshop Report: The glass is handblown so it has a swirls in and the knob is in good condition.
