This serene river scene is infused with beauty and a sense of mystery. The fluid quality of the watercolour has been brilliantly utilised to create a soft-focus to the image, adding a particular delicacy to the piece.

Mariani was an Italian artist particularly known for his works exploring the subtle effects of light falling on water. This evocative scene is a classic example of his work. He exhibited widely throughout his life and won numerous prizes and awards.

His works appear frequently at auction and oil paintings have sold for almost £50,000 at major auction houses such as Sotheby's and Christie's.

Combining a painter's eye and a dealer's mind, sourcing and selling artworks is Modern Decorative's passion.

Originally based on London's iconic Portobello Road, we realised the potential of sourcing underrated and underpriced art and antiques still in Spain, so we have now expanded our operations from Richmond to include Barcelona.

We find and sell exceptional pieces from across Europe, from the 19th century to today, to private collectors, companies, interior designers and those that just want to make their homes and work spaces more beautiful.

I am advised in my acquisitions by my father, Gary Jackson, who has over 35 years experience in the trade and is now a full-time painter.

Our ethos is always 'the best signature is the painting itself'.

As an online company, we are constantly updating our website with new pieces, but please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any requests. Where possible, we would be happy to arrange an appointment for you to view works in person.

We would be delighted to hear if you have works for sale. We are always pleased to look at individual works and complete studio collections. Works can also be sold on a consignment basis.

We are highly experienced with handling and shipping artworks, always obtaining competitive shipping rates and ensuring that delivery is carried out with the utmost care.

All business is handled with honesty, discretion and a commitment to quality.

Please do subscribe to our mailing list to be the first to hear about our new finds as they arrive. We have regular special offers for our subscribers.

We look forward to hearing from you and finding the right artwork for your collection.
