Late 19th, early 20th century ambrotype photograph on glass.
Faux painted tortoise shell frame, which also is painted onto glass before the ambrotype photograph is surrounded be a gilded oval section.
Hand written label to back which lets us know who the gentleman is, it reads. 'great grandpa' (Samuel Parkes)

A lovely decorative piece, beautiful architecture in the background & very well dressed gentleman.
