This particular example is in striking racing green upholstery with a white fibreglass base. It was made by Summits Plastics as denoted by their embossed ‘S’ stamp in a circle on the seat base. In 1953 Herman Miller outsourced the production to various external manufacturers as is the case with this item. With the raised Herman Miller logo on the seat base. We are a family-run business with combined expertise in auctions and restoration, and a passion for timeless aesthetics and responsible consumption.

We believe in rejuvenation as a crucial antidote to throwaway consumer culture. Well-designed, well-constructed pieces of furniture should last a lifetime, and beyond. That’s why we developed our buyback scheme – we want to revive and recycle all PearTree items as and when you need us to. This circular system provides an easy alternative to the traditional linear production line which simply accelerates waste production. Not only is our furniture used and loved time and time again, but in this way we can conserve natural resources by reusing existing materials and also reduce the burden on global supply chains of shipping parts to where they are manufactured.

We work with furniture of all shapes and sizes from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, using cabinet making skills to repair detailing and ensure that all mechanisms work perfectly. We use specialist techniques to finish every item to the highest quality, including a range of skilled applications such as French Polishing, resulting in timeless, handcrafted furniture which is both hard wearing and lovely to look at.
