An unusual 19th century antique oak mule chest or coffer. The antique oak mule chest has a two plank hinged lid that opens to reveal a spacious interior, with a candle box. The oak mule chest has two octagon shaped panels to the front, with two drawers below, each with wooden knobs. The chest is raised on stile feet, with a decorative shaped front apron.
Height – 88cm / Width – 111cm / Depth – 53.5cm
In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, stains and dents to the lid top (pictured). There is further wear, including minor scratches to the frame. There is evidence of historic woodworm, however this is now long gone and has been fully treated as a precaution. The antique oak mule chest remains structurally solid and sound, with the drawers running well. Overall, a good example of an antique chest.
