An antique oak lectern manufactured by J Wippell & Co (1789-present) This particular Arts and Crafts influenced model dates from the late Victorian period

At some stage it was then acquired by the military, and along with various serial numbers, ’Wippell & Co’ markings, it then had the unmistakable provenance of a WD (War Dept) stamp with Queens Crown imprinted on its base

It then made its way onto RAF Scampton, Lincionshire. An airbase synonymous for being the home the famous Dam Busters and The Red Arrows. It remained in their care until it was eventually privately purchased many years later

It certainly has been on a journey this one. If only objects could talk!

Ralway Cottage Antiques is a decorative antiques business based in Guildford, Surrey that started purely by accident. One minute I'm quietly buying bits and bobs to renovate my old Railway Cottage, and the next thing I know I've been bitten by the bug!

Now to date, ably assisted by my right hand man, Smudge the border terrier, I've supplied thousands of items to the public and trade alike. As well as various TV and Film production companies too, including 'Salvage Hunters - The Restorers'.

We are regularly to be found venturing far and wide looking for those special items to bring to and Instagram, and now you can also see them here too at the Hoarde Vintage.
