large French antique stoneware confit jar.

These stoneware containers were used to store meat such as duck and pork in fat (confit) in the days prior to refrigeration.

They are made from heavy thick clay as they were designed to be stored outside so had to survive winter frosts.

Beautiful old rustic patina, this beautiful jar looks great as a stand alone centerpiece or maybe as a flower vase, artist studio vase, planter, utensil holder, there are just lots of uses. Essential farmhouse decor

This is a solid and very heavy piece of pottery, glazed inside and out. Earthy beige in color . Two 'ear' handles. Some wear to the glaze see photos.

height 26 cm, width 28 cm , or approx 10" x 11"

Condition - Signs of age and use. In good condition with a couple of chips and wear , but remains in solid watertight and useable condition - see photos.

Your purchase will be carefully packaged and shipped with shipping details within 3 working days.

Welcome to Restored2bloved, a small family run business that has evolved from a passion for sourcing beautiful vintage and retro pieces to create a unique, nostalgic and interesting feel to my home and garden.
My style is strongly influenced by cottage gardens, rustic country homes, brocante and shabby chic. I love things that are both beautiful and practical and find that vintage items can add so much colour and personality to your home. I am a keen gardener growing mostly cottage garden plants and I love using vintage pieces to provide interesting and beautiful  planters and vases to display flowers in the home and garden.

Sourcing stock is a brilliant and exciting part of the job, I love finding that perfect piece for the shop. Each piece is an original vintage item, sourced from varying locations in England and France. My other passion is restoring or revamping beautiful pieces of furniture, bringing them back to their former glory so they can be used and loved in their new home.
So that's a bit about me,  I hope you enjoy browsing in the shop and if you buy something I hope you love it as much as I do.
