French antique majolica asparagus serving dish.

This beautiful majolica serving dish is illustrated on page 77 of the famous French book Artichauts et asperges en barbotine by Maryse Bottero. It is listed as a desigh made by the famous French faiencerie Salins. Typically it does not have a makers mark/ stamp - Salins majolica often isn't marked. It does have the number 1 impressed on the base.

The detail and colours are beautiful. The sides are shaped and raised and there is a well at each end of the plate, which would contain the sauce for the asparagus.

The plate is in very good condition for its age. There is a little age realted discoloration and crazing to the glaze. A very fine hairline crack to one of the wells - see photos and two small chips to the bottom where they cannot be seen.

Welcome to Restored2bloved, a small family run business that has evolved from a passion for sourcing beautiful vintage and retro pieces to create a unique, nostalgic and interesting feel to my home and garden.

My style is strongly influenced by cottage gardens, rustic country homes, brocante and shabby chic. I love things that are both beautiful and practical and find that vintage items can add so much colour and personality to your home. I am a keen gardener growing mostly cottage garden plants and I love using vintage pieces to provide interesting and beautiful  planters and vases to display flowers in the home and garden.

Sourcing stock is a brilliant and exciting part of the job, I love finding that perfect piece for the shop. Each piece is an original vintage item, sourced from varying locations in England and France. My other passion is restoring or revamping beautiful pieces of furniture, bringing them back to their former glory so they can be used and loved in their new home.

So that's a bit about me,  I hope you enjoy browsing in the shop and if you buy something I hope you love it as much as I do.
