Rare vintage French Majolica jug in the form of a pig. It does not have a makers mark.

These jugs were made in many animal forms to be used as bar jugs. They were used for pouring water over a sugar cube in the absinthe drinking ritual. He has one small hole in his snout to pour the water.

This pig is glazed in a muted mustard yellow color with red burgundy colored accents across the nose and ears.

The glaze is crazed with age. There are no chips or cracks. There are some marks in the pottery which have been made during the original making process.

He is a very handsome fellow, great for a collector or display.

Welcome to Restored2bloved, a small family run business that has evolved from a passion for sourcing beautiful vintage and retro pieces to create a unique, nostalgic and interesting feel to my home and garden.
My style is strongly influenced by cottage gardens, rustic country homes, brocante and shabby chic. I love things that are both beautiful and practical and find that vintage items can add so much colour and personality to your home. I am a keen gardener growing mostly cottage garden plants and I love using vintage pieces to provide interesting and beautiful  planters and vases to display flowers in the home and garden.

Sourcing stock is a brilliant and exciting part of the job, I love finding that perfect piece for the shop. Each piece is an original vintage item, sourced from varying locations in England and France. My other passion is restoring or revamping beautiful pieces of furniture, bringing them back to their former glory so they can be used and loved in their new home.
So that's a bit about me,  I hope you enjoy browsing in the shop and if you buy something I hope you love it as much as I do.
