Lewin Bassingthwaighte 'Undressing in Four Parts'

This colour woodcut is signed in full by the artist lower right and at lower left is numbered 1 from an edition of 50 prints. It is dated 1966. Another example of the print was shown in one of the artist's shows at the Piccadilly Gallery.

About 16.2 x 10.2 inches approximate image size and about 29.8 x 20.2 inches sheet size; unframed

Condition: The woodcut is in generally good condition. There are one or two very light markings in the margins and a crease of the lower right corner of the sheet. The sheet doesn't have a uniform width at the left side edge. It is hard to know whether this was always the case or whether it was trimmed at some stage. Lastly there are two or three indentations to the paper at the top right image of the young woman (in the neck area) which occurred in the printing process. We know this as other examples of this print have exactly the same indentations in the same place.

The price is inclusive of delivery to Great Britain mainland. Please enquire of us for shipping costs to other destinations.

I think I was always destined to have an interest in the world of Modern British Art and 20th Century design. My father wrote books on the subject in the 1970s and having grown up (literally!) surrounded by mainly 20th Century art, I began to take an interest myself in the late 1990s. My personal taste is in the work of artists such as Wlhelmina Barns-Graham, Lynn Chadwick, Alan Davie, Terry Frost, William Gear and Julian Trevelyan. In regard to furniture I collect, and sometimes deal in, pieces by designers including Poul Kjaerholm, Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen and Robin Day.

The RetroSixty website stocks paintings, drawings and prints mainly by 20th Century British artists and I also have a few works by continental, American and Australian artists. I established the business in 2006 and this website is focused mainly on affordable work likely to be within the budget of people starting out or upgrading a collection, as I try to keep every item priced competitively at less then £500. The prices always include shipping within mainland Great Britain, with items packed securely to a high standard, using recycled materials wherever possible, and shipped promptly. I do ship further afield and discounted prices to other locations are available on request (please see the contact form on the Hoarde Vintage website adjacent to my listings).

I also have another modern art business, www.nickwatersart.co.uk, which is hosted on www.decorativecollective.com, the sister website to the Hoarde Vintage. That website shows work for the more experienced collector and / or dealer, or indeed public collections with whom we have worked in the past. My father's business www.grantwatersfineart.co.uk is also to be found on the Decorative Collective.

I provide a condition report on each item with my listings on the Hoarde Vintage. The authenticity of each piece is guaranteed and a detailed receipt is issued on sale. If viewings of works in person is required, we are in Angmering, West Sussex, and viewings are possible, usually seven days a week, but by appointment only. Also further images of works for sale will be available on request.

I do hope you enjoy the visit to my site/s, and if I can help with anything, no matter how large or small, please feel free to ask. Thank you for looking.
