18th Century Oak Spice Cabinet

A beautiful 18th century oak spice cabinet.
A wonderful, unique piece of period oak, originally a kitchen spice cabinet & later used in a country estate office. With the fantastic soft sheen, patina & depth of colour found exclusively in oak furniture with considerable age & the nine drawers with small matching brass handles. The drawer fronts have some delightfully naive handpainted labeling including Horses, Wages, Banking, Letters, Self  & the classic General 'Expences'. A charming piece which is rustic, functional & tells its own story!
Early 20th century.
Wear commensurate with age, very good overall, displays beautifully. Solid with some sporadic historic woodworm holes to the front panel & chipping around the inner door lock area & a small knock the the rear right hand panel. As with most pieces of considerable age, the piece has a few subtle historic additions which are very much part of its past, do not detract & blend effortlessly. Some of the inner drawers (sides, backs & rears) & possibly the upper & lower trim appear to be replacements / additions but have all been done a long time ago. All the main panels, drawer-fronts, door, sides, back, top & base appear original though the lock is a historic addition & the key is a working modern replacement.
UK courier service available at £18 tracked & signed for 24 hour delivery.
