A large antique glass chemists advertising carboy.
A beautiful & exceptionally rare chemist's carboy, hand blown, on an ebonised oak stand & finished with a large wheel cut star to the front, likely a representation of the pharmaceutical cross. An extremely hard-to-find piece, once filled with colourful liquid & graced a chemist window as part of an eye catching advertising display.
French, late 19th century
Wear commensurate with age, unrestored, very good overall. The interior has some expected marking to the base which will likely dissapear once it is filled. The top section would originally have been sealed with a cork once filled.
Height measurement includes stand & neck (46cm in height without stand).

I take a keen interest in anything which looks like it has a story to tell, love a 'bit of character' & remain fascinated with old typography, curios of a bygone era and travel & retail related pieces. While much of my business is conducted online, viewings are available by appointment so please don't hesitate to get in touch & I look forward to hearing from you!
