This a fabulous quality painting by renowned award winning British portrait painter Jamie Routley.

Welsh artist Jamie Routley (b 1982) completed a BA (hons) degree in Illustration at Swindon College followed by four years of study with the American painter Charles H. Cecil in Florence.
His work has been exhibited in numerous group exhibitions including those of the National Portrait Gallery (BP Portrait Award 2012, 2013), The Royal Society of Portrait Painters (2011, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020), ‘Figurativas’ 15 at the MEAM, Barcelona (2015-2016), The Columbia Threadneedle Prize (2018) and The Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Prize (2019).
Awards include BP's Young Artist Award 2012 at the National Portrait Gallery and The De Lazlo Foundation Award for excellence in 2017 (The Royal Society of Portrait Painters annual exhibition).
The Ruth Borchard Collection, the UK’s only public collection of self portraits, recently purchased his latest self portrait for their Collection.

I have done a little more research into this piece specifically and spoke to Jamie over email where he explained how the painting came to be.

I painted this quick portrait study of a Swedish actor called Torkel Petersson back in 2008 when I was in Sweden for the summer. I’m not sure why the spelling of Torkel is wrong on the back, perhaps I didn’t write it... I can’t remember who bought the picture, but I didnt have it in my studio for long. I can try to find out. How did you come across it?

My name is Matt Dixon and for as long as I can remember I have had a love for history and design which I find relate very closely.

Since starting up TallBoy Interiors 3 years ago, I have learnt so much about what works together and I find that you can mix modern and classic pieces to create a truly unique design.

I am not afraid to express myself through the items I buy as I believe your home should represent as much about you as the way you dress.  Everyone has their own style and that is what makes this business so interesting.

As trends change, the pieces that appear on the open market change, and that keeps me thinking of how it can work in a design.

I want to provide a service that is totally personal to the client and help them use their imagination to create something unique.
