Galvanised Metal boxes date back to c1936. This lovely Ballot Box has had a No.5 painted on the front which gives it a real decorative look.

The Ballot Box was first introduced in the UK during 1872 this is when voting was still restriced to men! The word ballot derives from the Italian word ballotta which means ball as wooden balls were used to cast votes in gentleman's clubs - white in favour - black against. Love the history but also love that this is stylish storage for the decorative home! This example is complete with original key and the slide opens on the top.

That Vintage Place is a decorative antique business in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside - sourcing unique authentic items for homes and independent businesses.

A love of decorative interior design, craftsmanship and personality inspired the creation of That Vintage Place. With a fondness for the quirky individual pieces that are not run of the mill, I turned a passion into a business.
