1940s Railway Strong Box- Great Side Table or Seat

THE ANTIQUE KITCHEN
I had to buy this Railway Strong Box as although I know nothing about Railways it just makes the coolest seat or side table....Dating to the 1940s it is in complete Original Condition with FANTASTIC original paint. So many pieces today are painted to look like this but this is completely genuine.

The writing is on the front and both sides. There are two large cast iron carrying handles. The top only lifts up about 4" to a type of scoop? the bottom drawer is locked and there is no key and there is a chain coming out of a hole at the front. I think, and correct me if I am wrong, this box was used to store the daily takings. The money went in the top and couldnt be taken out once in and the drawer at the base locked to keep the money safe. The chain is to attach the box to something so it can't be carried away and stolen.

Anyway this is why I am selling it as a decorative seat or side table and not a useable box. However if you have a key or a skeleton key that fits it could be a different matter.

It is very heavy and so Collection or Courier UK £45 (Not including Scotland).
