A very fine example of a Swedish 19th century turned wooden dairy bowl, with original earthy red paint.
The wood used is likely sycamore and the bowl would have originally been used in a dairy, where milk would be left to stand in it until developing into cream which could then be syphoned off and sold.
The condition of the piece is very good fro its age, there a just a few minor abbrasions and chips, as pictured, but nothing which detracts from the piece in any way and really only adds to its rustic charm.

The Black Dog, in spirit, was formed a couple of years ago, but only became an official business with the opening of our physical shop in March of 2022.

A father and son team, Liam Casey manages the shop, both online and in person and is also responsible for the curation of the stock, guided by his love and appreciation for simple, time-tested items of quality construction or design.

Whllst Richard Casey, a professional restorer of antiques with over 30 years of experience, is primarily employed behind the scenes, in his farmhouse barn-turned-workshop, ensuring the structural integrity of everything we sell, all without losing any of the original patina and cosmetic imperfections that make each of our pieces so unique.

Shop opening times are Friday to Sunday, 10.30am to 4.30pm.
