A 1940's example of a model V/10 Tan-Sad swivelling machinist chair.

These early examples of the famous Tan-Sad swivel chairs are getting harder and harder to find. This one has rubber feet added at a later date (not by us) which could be removed, though they are quite useful and don't detract from the look of the chair. The chair also looks to have been reupholstered, as is common for pieces of this age, but it’s well-done and is still in good condition with no rips or tears.

The Black Dog, in spirit, was formed a couple of years ago, but only became an official business with the opening of our physical shop in March of 2022.

A father and son team, Liam Casey manages the shop, both online and in person and is also responsible for the curation of the stock, guided by his love and appreciation for simple, time-tested items of quality construction or design.

Whllst Richard Casey, a professional restorer of antiques with over 30 years of experience, is primarily employed behind the scenes, in his farmhouse barn-turned-workshop, ensuring the structural integrity of everything we sell, all without losing any of the original patina and cosmetic imperfections that make each of our pieces so unique.

Shop opening times are Friday to Sunday, 10.30am to 4.30pm.
