An attractive English elm smokers chair made in 1914 by Wycombe furniture maker W. Birch.

The chair has a good wide elm seat slab (which is wonderfully comfortable) and a lovely time worn patina with deep richness in the wood grain. It sits on turned legs and a double 'H' stretcher for added strength.

The furniture makers stamps show 'W. Birch - Wycombe' and '1914'. Also stamped is a broad arrow and '65' suggesting a history of British military ownership.

A wonderful addition to any dining room, living space or fireside.

Please note that the chair has a repair to the right armrest. Quite well disguised from the top but from the underside there is a metal plate added to strengthen (see photos). Other areas have been glued also. Priced accordingly.

Sturdy, strong and fit for purpose.

H: 80cm | W: 68cm | Seat H: 45cm
