The amazing clown shoes
Every now and again an item comes along that blows us away, the creativity, reasoning, outrageousness, uniqueness, and most important craftsmanship. These early to mid-20th Century oversized hand stitched leather clown shoes are just that, not just because of the amazing attention to detail across each stitched section, colour scheme and out folk-art style naïve painted toenails but the fact that a circus entertainer had the creative capacity to think them up in the first place. This circus artifact is not only a piece of unique folk art but also a real showstopper and artistic in their true form. Many clown shoes have been produced, but you will do well to find another pair such as these.
Size in inches: H 7.5” x W 17” x D 8”
Origin: English
Period: 1930 - 1940
Material: Leather
Condition: Completely solid in structure and form, fading and wear across all the leather surface with a small unstitching across the large toe on the right shoe. These are old and the photos aim to reflect that. Its exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas in this piece, therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.

Our house style is probably best described as artistic, theatrical and, even macabre.

We often get asked by our clients, “Where did you find that?” The answer is always the same. Look hard enough and you will find what you seek.
