Huge Castle Line Advertising Sign c.1890
We are proud to offer a rare example of a late 19th Century chromolithograph on canvas advertising sign for Castle Line still in its original ebonised wooden frame. This is a huge sized example and recently uncovered from a stately home in Cornwall hung in a large room of the shipping agents head office showcasing the cruise liner owners name “G.C Fox & Co, A number of heraldic shields from the cruise liners travels, the names of the countries visited including Kimberley, Johannesburg, Barberton, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Natal. This Cruise liner was considered the main steamer for the gold fields of South Africa. A true survivor of the late 19th century and a very rare example of nautical advertising English history.

Condition: This item is completely solid in structure and form, aged patina with weathering has taken place across all the surfaces of this items. Aged repair across the surface of this item is present as shown in the photos provided. Damaged sections where the canvas has either aged and scuffed to worn away (this is due to both age and use). The damage and wear is representative of the items age however is quite presentable we feel. Its strongly suggested to view all the photos and propose questions where you are unsure of the items condition.
