Early 20th Century Love Token Tramp Box
We are proud to offer a charming and heart felt love token tramp box dated 1917. Made from old cigar boxes and covered with naïve yet well-presented floral patterns and motifs. Inscribed with the words “Remembrance of captivity” made by a prisoner of war/soldier based in the small town of Eglosheim in Ludwigsburg, Germany, made for his sweetheart Henriette. A museum quality piece in completely untouched form, dating the Great War that took place in Germany from 1917.
Size in inches approx.: H 4.5” x W 8” x D 5.5”
Period: 1917
Material: Wood
Origin: Germany
Condition: Fair
Completely solid in structure and form, with a deep natural patination of the wooden surface. The lock is no longer present, but the key is strangely. A missing section on the lip of the front of the lid as shown, overall, a very firm and well present object for its age.
This is an aged object so expect age related wear as the photos aim to show however it is exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas on this piece. Therefore, we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections / condition is unclear to avoid disappointment when purchasing.
