Pontypool Lacquered English Spice Box Circa 1850
We are proud to offer a mid-19th Century English toleware spice box, decorated around the box with a highly decorative floral pattern, opening to reveal individual handwritten spice labels to the lid’s canisters for ginger, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, cinnamon, and mace with another slot to the right with an original grater. A lovely true untouched example.
Size: H 2.5” x W 9” x D 6.5”
Period: mid-19th Century
Material: Toleware
Origin: English
Condition: Aged
Completely solid in structure and form, with a natural patination across the surface. Loss of detail to the paint. Its exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas in this piece, therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.
