Signed Spanish Fairground Hunting Scene Stall Banners c. 1930

For sale in this LOT is an Original Spanish fairground stall banner, a very rare and highly desirable oil painting on canvas stretch mounted on a bespoke pine wooden frame for ease of displaying. The item is dated circa 1930s and signed by the Spanish artist (A Navarro). The item shows signs of historical restoration, stitching to canvas (were damaged) and aged oiled paint shows signed of cracking due age and use also. The painting depicts a hunting scene were a large grizzly bear has overpowered a hunter and has him in his clutches. The bear has been shot from behind by a native indian.

This banner would have been displayed outside a traveling fairground, most likely at a shooting arcade. These banners could have easily been erected and put away which was essential for traveling showman of this period. Banners of this nature have becoming extremely hard to source, most are held by true fairground collectors and hardly retailed, we are privileged enough to have obtained a pair of these highly desirable and rare fairground artefacts (by the same artist). Whoever purchases these items will not be disappoint either by their impact (Size) or character.
