German folk-art bird on natural base c.1920
A wonderful example of an early 20th Century German folk art hand carved wooden figure of a bird. With glass eyes, metal wire legs attached to a natural wooden stem and mounted on a natural tree fungus base. Artistically painted features across the figure and wonderfully proportioned carvings. A very good example of German folk art, this example would have likely been accompanied by a number of similar figures decorated across either a hallway entrance or wall of a country home in Germany. Recently uncovered from a private collector and untouched in form.
Dimensions in inches: H 7 x W 6 x D 4.5
Origin: German
Period: 1920
Condition: A very clean example considering its age, light aging across the surface. Please view all the photos as part of this advert before a purchase is made.

It’s quite simple. We buy what we like. We believe that extraordinary items are owned by extraordinary people who live in extraordinary spaces. We are driven by the passion to unearth and offer the most unusual, decorative and rarest objects.

Our house style is probably best described as artistic, theatrical and, even macabre.

We often get asked by our clients, “Where did you find that?” The answer is always the same. Look hard enough and you will find what you seek.
