Early 20th Century English copper Holophane streetlight

A rare example of an early 20th Century copper, double prism glass Holophane English streetlight. Stamped with “This side Holophane across road” plaque. This open top hinged copper gallery holds a heavy double prism original glass shade. The illumination of this light fitting is quite beautiful displaying hundreds of small glowing squares. It would have most likely been placed outside the entrance of a large home doorway at some point in its life.

Size in inches: H 23” x W 13” x D 13”

Completely solid in structure and form, showing natural wear and tear due to age and use.
Faded copper gallery showing a lovely natural Verdigris. Rewired to a UK 240v 3 cord flex cable. We advise this light is only fitted by a professional electrician after a purchase is made.

Period:

1920
