Rare English Early 20th Century Hand Carved Masonic Arch

We share what we love, and we love this rare and unusual example of an early 20th century Royal Masons Arch. Inscribed with the Latin phrase “FIAT LUX” meaning let there be light. Light being the symbol of knowledge and truth. Hand carved wooden sections that fit individually to make the words displayed. Hand painted marble effect with gold gilt carved double sided letters. This item may likely have been placed over a doorway or shelf.

Size of inches: H 12” x W 40” x D 5”
Condition: Aged
Origin: United Kingdom
Age: 1900 - 1930
Completely solid in structure and form, Natural aging across all surfaces. Faded lettering and surface paint. The wood underneath the arch has seen some aging had treated dry rot in places. The base is firm even in this aged condition.
All the items that we sell at The House of Antiques are authentic and as described, we ask that all clients consider the items age and photos that have been supplied to display the items condition.
